Japan is said to be the second largest jewellery market. Japan jewellery fair 2008 starts on 27th August and closes on 29 August in Tokyo Big Sight Exhibition Center in East Halls 4, 5 and 6. The event is organized by CMP Business Media Co Ltd and Japan Jewellery Association with support of Japanese Ministry of Economy and its Chamber of Commerce. AMBERIF- the International Fair of Amber, Jewellery and Gemstones

The International Fair of Amber, Jewellery and Gemstones is organized not only for trade purposes but also in order to create a chance to participate in many events related to jewelry industry. What kind of events does the Amberif offer? You will get all the information if you read this year’s programme of the fair and look at photographs from the previous year’s fair.

AMBERIF is the most important event of the amber industry (retailers, wholesalers, etc.), it is organized in association with goldsmiths. Thank to that cooperation Gdansk will play host to the representatives of HRD, the Diamond High Council (Hoge Raad voor Diamant) for the second time. The HRD is a non-profit organization which controls the quality of diamonds, promotes diamonds and provides training courses in Europe. That is why on the third day of our fair Ann Van Spaendonk will give a lecture on the process of issuing diamond certificates and creating special passports of gemstones which could be verified all around the world. Because of the fact that colorful synthetic gemstones e.g. emeralds, sapphires or rubies are becoming more and more popular on international markets, including Poland the second theme of the lecture is their recognition.

The seminar conducted by the TJF Group (Trends Jewellery Forecasting) from London will be held on the 16th March. It is the most influential organization in the world which analyzes and forecasts trends in fashion and jewelry. The lecture on trends in jewelry for the year 2008 will be given by Paolo Novembri, a TJF Group representative responsible for strategy consulting.
Another attractive point of the programme is an international gemmological seminar about amber deposits in Poland and the Ukraine. It is estimated that in order to meet the demand of Polish, Ukrainian, Lithuanian and Russian amber producers it is needed to extract over 1000 tons of raw amber, only 30% of which is a usable for manufacturers material.

What other attractions does the International Fair of Amber, Jewellery and Gemstones provide?
A well-known YES company from Poznan, which celebrated its 25th anniversary last year, invites all the guests for an exhibition of works presented in The First all-Poland Competition of Gold Arts. The public will also have the opportunity to see the first presentation of the silver triptych, a piece of art by Bogdan Mirowski, ordered by the Museum of Amber in Gdansk. You will also be able to see fascinating amber collections made by many artists from all over the world during the seminar about Baltic Amber prepared by the Museum of the Earth in Warsaw and the International Amber Association.

The grand prize is chosen by the International Amber Association which comprises 250 members from all over the world. On the day of the opening, it will be given to a person who is considered the best amber manufacturer. AMBERIF holds several other competitions. The winner of The International Contest for the Design of Jewellery with Amber “Amberif Design Award Elektronos 2007” is already known. The theme for the contest was inspired by Bob Dylan’s reggae music and his “natural mystic”. The organizers searched for an artist who was able to show in his work the natural secret, the mystic of amber. An international jury have chosen Angelina Stoykova – an artist from Sophia. All participant’s pieces of jewelry will be exhibited in a special exhibition during the fair as well as on our web portal.

The prizes for the winners of The Elektronos 2007 will be given during the Fashion and Amber Show in the Polish Baltic F. Chopin Philharmonic on Saturday, 17th March. The winner of the competition for the Mercurius Gedanensis Medal – the jewelry contest for the exhibitors will also be presented then. This prize was funded by the Polish Minister of Economy. On 15th March the prizes will be given to the winners of contest organized by the Pomeranian Chamber of Trade & Commerce and students of the Academy of Fine Arts in Lodz. As usual, the fashion and jewelry show will be prepared by famous fashion and jewelry designers.
